"Long lost love, where have you been?"

It's been a long time since last update, hasn't it?

What happened behind the scenes between then and now, and what is taking so long for the next extra story?

The sad truth is there's no satisfying answer to that question. After making the first update I decided to forget for a few days about this visual novel, only for those days to become weeks.

I hadn't forgotten about it completely, but I was putting it off for two reasons. The first one, quite honestly, is a lack of interest.

Although it's not okay for me to say this, I don't think this visual novel is good. Even if it ended up being more complicated and time-consuming than planned, it was meant to be something I'd pull out very fast to try and make a few cents, but the result was something far below what I feel comfortable asking money for; Subpar art with an insane resolution, a duration so short you can reach the credits in less than three minutes and a story that tries to feel like a vignette of a bigger story which ends up hurting the intended impact and comedy.

It's not very appealing to try polishing and adding to a product like this when it wasn't even a passion project to begin with.

The second one that's been discouraging me since I started working on the first extra story is the effort it'll take. Sten's stay at the farm used the same crude artstyle to not bother redoing the background, although perhaps that was just an excuse I made to myself.

There's no excuses for the second one. I've considered leaving as it is, but I don't want to. I want it to look better, both characters and backgrounds.

This is Lernar, although I may alter his sprite to try improving the shading and add highlights, I consider it the first character completed in this new style. I would've loved to show Stein instead but I may need to redraw him.

I'm working to make it, if not good, atleast improved. I don't like what Three Dorks & Two Keys is, but I do like its main characters and I want to give them something better than what they got in their debut. There is a long way to go until then, not helped by lack of motivation.

Once I'm done with the visuals I'll have to actually sit down and write the story. I have the entire structure planned and written already, but actually making the thing is a different matter.

And the music too. Perhaps my sleuthing skills are simply bad, but I couldn't find music that suited the character and the situation our heroes will find themselves in for this second story. I've decided I'll make it myself, thus. I'm not so egotistic to believe I can do it with ease, but it's what I feel I should do.

So being brief this next update is a daunting task for me, so I've been putting it off out of lack of interest, laziness, and lack of confidence to be up to the task. It will take time and shouldn't be expected to come out soon or ever at all, so perhaps it's a relief nobody downloaded this thing so there's nobody expecting it.
